Then, towards the end of the season Nostalgia for the Light is a special and very moving documentary, meditating on space, searching and the past, and especially on the Chilean people who disappeared under Pinochet.

There is a strong thread of lightness and humour this season too: as well as our usual silent comedy programme, we have the Czech comedy The Firemen’s Ball, Almodovar’s great farce Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, plus the new release The Fairy, and the delightful Les demoiselles de Rochefort.

Our strand of great repertory cinema continues too with 1958 Palme d’Or winner The Cranes are Flying, plus Dreyer’s Day of Wrath, and Cairo Station, a wonderful neo-realist melodrama from 50s Egypt directed by Youssef Chahine, one of the giants of African cinema, and a film never released in the UK.

Thank you to everyone who has given us suggestions. Let us know what you think of our choices, and we look forward to seeing you in the autumn.

Friday 07 Sep 2012

Even the Rain

Friday 28 Sep 2012

Monsieur Lazhar

Saturday 29 Sep 2012

Silent comedies

Friday 05 Oct 2012

The Hedgehog

Friday 12 Oct 2012

A Separation

Friday 26 Oct 2012

Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress

Friday 02 Nov 2012

The Cranes are Flying

Friday 09 Nov 2012

Silent film (TBC)

Friday 23 Nov 2012

Day of Wrath

Friday 07 Dec 2012

The Firemen’s Ball

Friday 14 Dec 2012

A Royal Affair

Friday 11 Jan 2013

The Fairy

Friday 18 Jan 2013

Cairo Station

Friday 08 Feb 2013

Les demoiselles de Rochefort

Friday 15 Feb 2013

Love

Friday 01 Mar 2013

Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives

Friday 08 Mar 2013

Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown

Friday 15 Mar 2013

Departures

Friday 26 Apr 2013

Nostalgia for the Light

Friday 03 May 2013

Before Night Falls

Friday 10 May 2013

Free Men

Catherine Deneuve and Gene Kelly in Les Demoiselles de Rochefort Forest Row Film Society’s new 2012-13 programme will contain another great range of new releases,…

[10
