The clutch of films that are coming soon to the <a href=\"http:\/\/bffs.org.uk\/services\/blockbooking\/\">BFFS booking scheme<\/a> looks really interesting, as ever.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve not seen any of them, so have just gone through the list to get a sense of what they are about, and whether they might be of interest to us, and have added a short comment about each. The titles link through to the list of reviews on the Movie Review Query Engine, unless I couldn&#8217;t find anything there, in which case I&#8217;ve just added a link to another useful source. I must say, this looks like a cracking list of films. We&#8217;re spoilt for choice.<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ll need to check with BFFS about precisely when these become available for booking.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t forget that there is other very useful and engaging information about booking scheme titles on the <a href=\"http:\/\/bffsbookingscheme.wordpress.com\/\">Booking Scheme blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrqe.com\/movie_reviews\/tao-jie-m100095927\">A Simple Life<\/a>, Ann Hui, Hong Kong 2011: Really great list of reviews. Looks like a good one for us<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrqe.com\/movie_reviews\/cold-fever-m100000227\">Cold Fever<\/a>, Fri\u00f0rik \u00de\u00f3r Fri\u00f0riksson, Iceland 1995: Funny road movie, &#8220;a striking spiritual affirmation and personal epiphany at journey&#8217;s end. A one-off that lodges in the memory&#8221; says <em>Time Out<\/em><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/icelandonscreen.wordpress.com\/2009\/08\/15\/cold-light-kaldaljos\/\">Cold Light<\/a>, Hilmar Oddsson, Ice\/Nor\/UK\/Ger 2004: Not many reviews about, but sounds interesting, and set in Iceland<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrqe.com\/movie_reviews\/falkar-m100010104\">Falcons<\/a>, Fri\u00f0rik \u00de\u00f3r Fri\u00f0riksson, Iceland 2002: <em>Time Out<\/em> review is intriguing, though I prefer the sound of Fri\u00f0riksson&#8217;s earlier <em>Cold Fever (<\/em>above)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrqe.com\/movie_reviews\/the-first-movie-m100093476\">The First Movie<\/a>, Mark Cousins, Iraq 2009: I love the sound of this. Check out the <em>Guardian<\/em>&#8216;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/film\/2010\/sep\/30\/the-first-movie-review\">review<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrqe.com\/movie_reviews\/hit-so-hard-m100094790\">Hit So Hard<\/a>, P. David Ebersole, US 2011: Doc about the Hole drummer; now, I&#8217;m really keen to have a weekend of music-themed films at some point. Could we include this?<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrqe.com\/movie_reviews\/how-to-die-in-oregon-m100094040\">How to Die in Oregon<\/a>, Peter D. Richardson, US 2011: Sounds like a fascinating doc on right to die question<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrqe.com\/movie_reviews\/kiseki-m100095814\">I Wish<\/a>, Hirokazu Koreeda, Japan 2011: Already on our long list for next season. His <em>After Life<\/em> is one of my favourite films<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrqe.com\/movie_reviews\/keep-the-lights-on-m100098790\">Keep the Lights On<\/a>, Ira Sachs, US 2012: Interesting-sounding drama with lots of strong reviews<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrqe.com\/movie_reviews\/kings-of-pastry-m100089679\">Kings of Pastry<\/a>, Chris Hegedus\/D A Pennebaker, US 2009: Mouthwatering doc, designed for a double bill with <em>Babette&#8217;s Feast<\/em> (the pope&#8217;s favourite film)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrqe.com\/movie_reviews\/kuma-m100099710\">Kuma<\/a>, Umut Dag, Austria 2012: Immigration-Turkey-Austria drama. Good review on Eye for Film<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrqe.com\/movie_reviews\/the-most-dangerous-man-in-america-daniel-ellsberg-and-the-pentagon-papers-m100087565\">The Most Dangerous Man in America<\/a>, Judith Ehrlich\/Rick Goldsmith, US 2009: Fascinating doc on guy who leaked documents about Vietnam, a long time before Wikileaks<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrqe.com\/movie_reviews\/biodagar-m100007967\">Movie Days<\/a>, Fri\u00f0rik \u00de\u00f3r Fri\u00f0riksson, Ice\/Den\/Ger 1994: Semi-autobiographical story of movie-obsessed boyhood in Iceland<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/english.carlthdreyer.dk\/Films\/Der-var-engang.aspx\">Once upon a Time<\/a>, Carl Theodor Dreyer, Denmark 1922: The great Danish director&#8217;s fifth film.
