Lazzaro, a quietly good natured peasant, meets Tancredi, a young nobleman with a wildly overactive imagination. They live in an isolated Italian village where the villagers are held in state of feudalism and bondage by the Marchesa Alfonsina de Luna. Tancredi asks Lazzaro to help him stage his own fake kidnapping which leads Lazzaro on a dark, magical and time-shifting journey away from the village for the first time.<\/p>\n
