It moved me fundamentally, and was one of the best gigs I had witnessed in years.&#8221; Michael Canning, <i>Sentient Seas<\/i><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Georges M\u00e9li\u00e8s, master magician and genius filmmaker, created film history&#8217;s first sci-fi story <i>The Trip to the Moon<\/i> in 1902. In a special event with live music by the acclaimed Yorkshire band STEMS, commissioned by the BFI to perform this live score, you will experience three M\u00e9li\u00e8s films to STEMS&#8217; enchanting music.<\/p>\n<p>STEMS are a trio who provide astonishing live soundtracks to these early films. Their music, with hints of Sigur Ros, The Velvet Underground, Stravinsky and Arvo Part, is full of sweeping elegant darkness and hypnotic delicate intensity.
