Set in and around the house of Auschwitz camp commandant Rudolf Höss, The Zone of Interest depicts a ‘normal’ family life alongside the brutalities of genocide. With its extraordinary sound design, and terrific performances by Sandra Hüller and Christian Friedel, the film won a huge number of awards at the Academy Awards, Cannes, BAFTA, and elsewhere.
