“Andrei Tarkovsky’s magnum opus offers a stark, spectacular reminder of what it means to be human.” Little White Lies
Tarkovsky’s adaptation of a 1961 novel by Stanislaw Lem. Psychologist Kelvin is sent to a space station orbiting the mysterious planet Solaris to investigate puzzling messages sent back to earth by an earlier mission. On arrival he finds one crew member dead and two more deeply disturbed by strange occurrences on the station.
“Tarkovsky’s speculative visions enfold the mysteries of death and rebirth, the lost paradise of childhood, the power of art to define identity, the menace of science as destructive vanity.” Richard Brody, New Yorker
