"Screenwriter Luke Davies and first-time feature director Garth Davis … have responded to this incredible situation with a heartfelt film combining intelligent attention to detail with a necessary sense of their story's simplicity and strength." Guardian
Based on a remarkable true story, Lion tells how five year old Saroo boards a deserted train alone and ends up stranded 1000 miles from home. After living on the streets and in an orphanage, he is adopted by an Australian couple (Nicole Kidman). Twenty five years later, with only a handful of childhood memories, Saroo (Dev Patel) begins the almost impossible search for his biological family.
"A deeply empathetic performance from Dev Patel and an unflinching view of child poverty in Calcutta provide a winning edge for Lion". Times
