This adaptation of a short story by Haruki Murakami follows stage actor, Yūsuke Kafuku, directing a multilingual production of Uncle Vanya, while grappling with the death of his cherished, unfaithful wife, Oto, and another previous tragic loss. When he is assigned a young female personal chauffeur to drive his much-loved Saab, they embark on a journey which involves a mutual exploration of their past lives.
